i don't feel like writing
so let's see where that goes.

there were a varied array of roses
in the blue crystal vase.

the colors of the roses caught a few
rays of the sun bringing out the colors
more vividly.

you couldn't help but touch one
and feel its petals.
soft and smooth
with an aroma only a dozen roses can give.

let's see fonca, the cub speed and the
hill. what is on the other side.

the duo said goodbye to stovetop man
and walked in silence up the last thirty
steps of the hill.

they got to the top and stopped.

what they saw was a tiny village spread out
before them.

they could see the church steeple
white clapboard houses lined the street before them.

there was a policeman at the corner directing what
little traffic there was.

laughter had fonca and speed turn their heads at the
same time to the right. there were children in a park
and they were playing hide and seek.

look, said fonca.
I am looking said speed.

see the young child hiding behind the seesaw.

speed looked and chuckled to himself.
there was indeed a child of about 5 hiding behind the
seesaw as if no one could see him.

there was an older child dressed in a plain cotton yellow
dress whose straight red hair was flying in all directions
as she ran here and there trying to find the children.
she seemed to be about 12 and was enjoying being it.

i am coming to get you she yelled.

squeals and screams of delight came as the children tried
to outrun her to the safe circle by the monkey bars.

she pretended not to see the little ones
and the boy behind the teeter totter picked his head up
and when she ran in the other direction he laughed and
yelled as he ran to the circle. you can't get me, amy,
he yelled as he made his way to the monkey bars.

amy turned toward the small boy and made a make believe
grab for him. she missed. and he laughingly fell within
the safe circle. there were five of his friends already
there.

this is fun said the young boy. yes, it is clamored the
young girl next to him. I like it when amy is it, she
always has a hard time tagging us.

yes, a hard time said the young boy.

amy stood in the middle of the park
and looked around
she saw the five youngsters in the circle and smiled
just one more she said to herself.

kevin, she called out. i am coming to get you.
you shall not escape me.

the sun was getting hot for it was just about noon
and the sun was hottest at mid morning here in lakeview.

amy's cheeks were red
and her freckles stood out
in the morning sun.

kevin, where are you, she called.

she thought she heard a little titter from behind
the rose bush but she didn't budge an inch
she slanted her eyes in that direction and saw
a perceptible tremor in the bush.

so, that's where he is she thought to herself.

she immediately began to walk in the other direction
while some of the children in the circle cried out
kevin run, run.

amy stopped and put her hands on her hips
looking in the direction of the circle.

oh, no, you don't she cried out as a flash of a
young six year old ran scampering passed her.

i'll get you she cried.

kevin o'reilly you are not getting away from me today.

the two sailed through the park.

he really was getting faster thought amy.

kevin meanwhile made a mad dash for the circle and
jumped over the teeter totter and through the jangle
of swings.

he reached the circle and his friends pulled him in.

one second later amy was there.

all right, so you outdid me again. but this is the
last time.

the children laughed and clamored around amy
hugging her legs and the youngest hanging on to
her foot.

there were six in all.

they were the children from happy house
down the street and amy was the oldest.
she looked out for them all.

she tooke in a deep breath and pressed her lips
together. she so loved the children and would
do anything to make their lives a little bit
happier.

they were the left overs from the summer crowd, and
it always ceased to amaze her that people could come
for the summer and leave their children behind.

she patted them on the head, and rubbed their tiny
faces.

she looked up and saw fonca and speed staring at her.

where did you come from said amy
how did you get here

she looked from side to side but could see no
others just these strangers.

amy had been through this part of the story many times
and it had always been the same.
strangers had never shown up here before.

she repeated herself again with a little more determination
and courgage.

where did you come from, she said?

fonca was confused.
where was this place?
she heard the young girl talking, almost as surprised as
they were at finding her she was definitely surprised at
their appearance.

my name is fonca and this is speed.

hello, said speed.

we didn't mean to scare you said fonca, we were just out
for an adventure and we came across you playing with the
children.

does matt know you are coming said amy?

I don't know any matt said fonca.
who is matt?

matt is the oldest. he is 18. and he is not going to
like you being here.

oh, well, said fonca maybe we should go then.

go, go where, said amy?

well, we might continue on with our walk.
and see what else is in town.

amy eyed the two suspiciously and the children
were now beginning to hold on to her hand and
little tom said, let's go amy, i want to go.

yes, said amy, we will go.
