SO WHAT SHOULD I WRITE ABOUT EMILY.!!!!!!
meghan sat at the small brown table where her
fingers tap tap tapped the latest scene in her
short story mystery.
she had decided a week ago that to motivate her to
write she would get dressed in the morning and head
for the town library and write her stories there.
it was a set time
like going to the office
so for the last five days if anyone was looking for her
they would find her at
10 o'clock sitting in the small
room with the large screen computer and she would busily write
her essays, photo reviews, and short stories.
this particular story was about Alex, short for Alexia.
Meghan already knew that Alexia was a tom boy,
but that had pulled Alex through some tough times in her
short 17 years.
alex wore her blonde hair pulled back from her face and
in a pony tail that stretched to the nape of her neck.
she was 17 and Alex knew what she wanted.
her blue eyes were sometimes the color of a light blue sky
and at other times they were the blue of the earth, like those
pictures the astronaut had sent back from their spaceship when
they had walked on the moon in '69.
meghan mused and her mind wandered, some people didn't believe the americans had
walked on the moon in 1969. Alex's generation said it was a hoax, but Meghan believed,
yes, she believed in America, what was that saying her mother
used to say when she picked up her court reporting machine and
went to work. Meghan tapped her forehead and remembered.
"Oh yes,her mother would say. "I go to do truth, justice and the
american way." as the court officer opened the door either to family
court or criminal court.
and then her mother would chuckle.
and everyone in the courthouse within hearing her would laugh.
but i am getting ahead of myself.
alex wanted to be a detective.
wasn't her father the most famous detective in new york,
hadn't he solved that harper murder when everyone else
had given up.
she was her father's daughter, wasn't she?
that's what the family said.
