from a business course
it hits home with me.
"a lesson here details how selling is the part of the
marketing process that creates selling stories. one of
the selling points is how the selling story identifies a
customer's problem and then excites the potential buyer about
that problem and a solution (your product). the selling story
creates and magnifies that problem so it touches the potential
buyer's logic and emotion (mind and heart). The selling story
magnifies desire in the customer that hopefully compels him/her
to buy your product. Selling is one small part of the marketing
process aimed at exciting customers and leading them to action."
what is this talking about?
what I get out of it.
it is almost the blueprint of a story.
the guy here is selling a material product like
perfume or jelly, or balloons, or fish.
but what if you were selling a story
"Business plans discourage many business people because they
think of the plan as a map to follow. This assumption is wrong.
Can you imagine drawing a map to a place where no one has ever been?
Trying to plot the future is meaningless, complicated, frustrating
anxiety producing, and, quite frankly, a waste of time. Evem worse
there is danger in trying to rigidly follow business plans because
they are always inaccurate. Yet business plans are vital to success.
Yet the question is how should they be used? Successful business plans
are not maps. They are lights to help us see our first steps and are
mirrors that reflect on and brighten our passions. Business plans are
frameworks for our study to become experts. They support our confidence
and are waypoints along our evolutionary path . They are markers that
help us learn from experience."
