did centering prayer three times today

this morning okay

did it again in the eye doctor's office
waiting for john to get his eye exam done

then i came home and did it again
but my mind wouldn't shut off
said my mantra anyway
tried to stay calm

but it wasn't a conversation i was having in my head
it was pictures of people that were streaming
across my mind

babies, a woman with blonde hair in a bown coat
holding a child close to her breast on what
looked like a roller coaster -
although I didn't see the roller coaster
then -
a long line of black men walking single file

i tried to breathe in and out
say my mantra
