Toasted brown bread
hot from the grill
with the indentations of the grill
lined into the bread
ten rows in all
it looked like a farmer's potato field
the markings of the grill were so evenly
lined up
like furrowed fields
you could picture a farmer walking among the rows
surveying his crop
perfectly manicured and pleasing to the eye
the crust was crisp and little sesame seeds stuck out
all along the edge
my mouth was beginning to water with anticipation of
sinking my teeth into this delightful sandwich
looking further down
swiss cheese jutted out from the corners of the bread and
mounds of pink corned beef thrust its way out of the middle
cushioned by a soft mound of shredded cabbage under it
a soft dressing of mayo and mustard oozed to the side
and the bottom piece of toasted bread held it all together.
on the side was my favorite oversized dill pickle
ready to be crunched and sucked on by my waiting mouth.
with a great deal of anticipation
i picked up the sandwich every so gently
so as not to disturb its moorings and finally
appeased my appetite with a small bite.
yummy - umm - this was a sandwich which satisfied my
every delight.
